You Deserve Justice. We’re Here to Help You Get It.
Sex trafficking is not just a criminal issue — it’s a violation of human dignity, and for survivors, the trauma can last for years. At In The Life Law, we provide trauma-informed legal representation for survivors of sex trafficking across Georgia.
Our mission is simple: hold accountable the businesses and institutions that allowed this abuse to happen — and fight for the justice and compensation you deserve.
Whether your trafficking experience happened recently or years ago, your story still matters — and you may have legal rights. We help survivors file civil lawsuits against hotels, websites, and other third parties that turned a blind eye or profited from exploitation.
Your voice is powerful. We’re here to help you use it — safely and confidentially.
What Is Sex Trafficking?
Sex trafficking occurs when someone is forced, tricked, or coerced into commercial sex acts, or when any minor is involved in commercial sex, regardless of force or coercion.
Trafficking can happen:
In hotels, motels, truck stops, or short-term rentals
Through ads on platforms like Backpage, Craigslist, or illicit sites
At massage parlors, escort services, or strip clubs
By people posing as boyfriends, friends, or employers
In group homes, foster care, or juvenile detention settings
In plain sight — at schools, workplaces, even homes
It doesn’t matter whether it happened yesterday or 15 years ago. If a business or third party knew or should have known that sex trafficking was happening and did nothing, they may be legally liable.
“At age 17 I was arrested as a trafficker, when I was really a victim. Pat’s team has taken my case and is preparing a suit against the hotel where I was trafficked. Pat’s team is a life saver.” Read more client reviews.
What Is a Civil Lawsuit for Sex Trafficking?
A civil lawsuit allows survivors to sue those who enabled trafficking — even if the trafficker was never arrested or convicted. These lawsuits seek financial compensation and often aim to create systemic change.
You may be eligible to file a civil claim if:
You were trafficked in or through a commercial property (e.g., hotel or motel)
Your abuse was posted or facilitated by an online platform
You were under 18 at the time, or over 18 and subject to force, fraud, or coercion
The business ignored red flags, had no policies in place, or looked the other way
You were criminalized for things you were forced to do during your trafficking
Civil cases do not require criminal charges. They focus on corporate accountability, victim compensation, and survivor empowerment.
Talk with a lawyer today about your options and rights as a survivor.
Who Can Be Held Responsible?
While traffickers are at the center of the abuse, they are rarely the only ones responsible. Businesses and organizations often:
Profit directly or indirectly from trafficking
Fail to train staff on recognizing and reporting trafficking
Ignore obvious signs of abuse and exploitation
Choose profits over people
Survivors may be able to sue:
Hotel and motel chains (e.g., Red Roof Inn, Motel 6, Super 8)
Online ad platforms
Rideshare companies and trucking firms
Property managers and landlords
Schools, employers, or faith-based organizations
Anyone who had the power to stop it — and didn’t
A Survivor-Centered Approach
You may not be ready to share your full story. You may not feel like a “survivor.” That’s okay. We meet you exactly where you are.
At In The Life Law, we offer:
Trauma-informed legal representation
A safe, judgment-free space
Pseudonym filing (we can sue as “Jane Doe” to protect your identity)
No upfront costs — you only pay if we win money for you
Direct support from a small, focused, deeply compassionate legal team
We believe legal work with survivors should be grounded in dignity, transparency, and care — never pressure or re-traumatization.

What Can a Survivor Recover in a Civil Lawsuit?
Every case is different, but civil lawsuits may help you recover money for:
Emotional and psychological trauma (past and future)
Therapy, counseling, and mental health care
Physical injuries or medical treatment
Lost wages or earning potential
Education, housing, or relocation costs
Punitive damages (to punish companies that enabled trafficking)
We also help survivors connect with additional resources, from mental health professionals to safe housing options.
Still Carrying Shame or Guilt? You Shouldn’t Be.
Many survivors carry shame — especially if they were arrested, labeled, or misunderstood. But the law is increasingly clear: Survivors are not criminals. They are victims of systems that failed.
You are not at fault. You are not broken. And you still have rights.
Whether you were trafficked as a teen or coerced in adulthood… whether it lasted for weeks or years… your story matters — and we want to help you reclaim power over it.
Is There a Time Limit to File?
There are deadlines (statutes of limitations) for filing civil claims, but:
Georgia has extended timelines in some cases
Federal laws like TVPRA (Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act) allow claims up to 10 years or more
Survivors who were minors may have additional time to file
Still, it’s best to talk to a lawyer sooner rather than later. We’ll review your case confidentially and explain your options — at no cost.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Not always. Many cases settle out of court. If we do go to trial, we’ll work to protect your identity and support you every step of the way.
That does not disqualify you. In fact, we may be able to help clear those charges or use them as evidence in your civil case.
Yes. Georgia’s laws and some federal statutes allow survivors to file long after the abuse occurred. Each case is unique, so speak with our team to know for sure.
No. Your consultation is free, confidential, and we only get paid if you win.
